The aim of the study is to describe the Mycenaean decorated pottery [LH I-Submyc.] of the different regions of Greece, to compare and contrast it interregionally and to isolate local styles and trends. The investigated area includes Thessaly and Aitolo-Arkanania, but not Epirus, Macedonia and the north Aegean islands. For each of the eleven regions [NE, SE, SW, NW Peloponnese, Ionian Islands, S, E, W, N of Central Greece, Cyclades, Dodecanese and East Aegean] there is a description of the geography, the major find-sites, local clay deposits and the present place of storage of the pottery. In LH I the Mycenaean style quickly spread over mainland Greece starting in south Laconia and the Argolid. In LH IIIA1 a pottery koine with standardized types was formed, from which only Phocis stood out with a regional style. After the LH IIIB destructions many local styles emerged and had their floruit in LH IIIC. In the Submycenaean phase settlement was more widely spread than previously thought. The volumes conclude with substantial indices of museums, find-sites, pottery shapes and plates.
