This volume presents the 1994–1997 excavation of the Lower Terraces of the Mycenaean citadel of Midea in the Argolid Plain of Greece. It compliments the author's previous volume on the Lower Terraces of Midea, which was published in 1998. A shrine and megaron were discovered on Terraces 9 and 10. The stratigraphy, architecture, pottery, lithics, small finds, and human and faunal remains dating from the Final Neolithic through Byzantine periods are discussed and cataloged. Additionally, the continuous sequence of LH IIIB–LH IIIC strata on the Lower Terraces revealed the ground plan and expansion of the megaron complex.

Contents: Introduction (G. Walberg); I. The Stratigraphy (G. Walberg); II. The Architecture (G. Walberg, R. Fitzsimmons, E. Markou; III. The Pottery, M. Baumann, S. Fisher, K. Giering, J. Kramer, M. Johnson, M. Lindblom, J. Verstraete, G. Walberg); IV. The Small Finds (G. Walberg, A. Ostenso); V. The Post–Bronze Age Period (E. Kosmetatou); VI. Summary (G. Walberg); VII. Catalog; VIII. Pottery Statistics; Appendix A. Faunal Remains (D. Reese); Appendix B. Human Remains (A. Ingvarsson-Sundström); Appendix C. The Finger-prints (J. Hruby); Appendix D. The Chipped Stone (J. Newhard).

Review by Margaretha Kramer-Hajos in BMCR 2008.03.43: "The discussion of the megaron is very detailed but at the same time contains many observations which are interesting to the beginning student as well . . . The organization of the book is very thematic, which contributes to the clarity of discussions; the level of detail is very high. Handily, all figures and plates are printed in a separate volume. A pocket in the back contains two fold-out plans of the citadel, a state plan of the megaron area, and a beautiful color coded reconstruction plan of megaron and shrine area. Plans and drawings of finds are professional. The two volumes are beautifully produced, on high-quality paper. . . . All in all, this is a high quality professional publication, with a clear and detailed presentation of the evidence and sober and sensible interpratations."
