Some five years after the publication of his excellent history of Greek Literature, Professor Lesky, with characteristic energy, has produced a second edition in which corrections, modifications, and additions, mostly of a minor character, are to be found throughout the whole work. The new edition is nearly 150 pages longer than its predecessor (...). Appreciably more space has been allotted to Homer and Plato; this appears rather to take account of new publications than to alter the original in essentials. In the chapter on Hellenistic Literature a short section jas been added on pseudo-Pythagorean writings. Ease of reference has been greatly increased by printing notes separately at the foot of the page instead of in an unbroken mass at the end of individual sections.' (H.Ll.
