Summary:Die Publikation versucht, die Spuren der Apollon-Verehrung sowie die Inhalte seines Kultes in Zypern, die sich deutlich von jenen in Griechenland unterscheiden, zu erforschen. Apollon vereint in Zypern deutlich andere, in den Orient weisende, Charakteristika in sich, wozu auch seine Verehrung als Kultbegleiter der Aphrodite zählt. Beide Gottheiten konnten eine derart enorme inselweite Vorrangstellung erreichen, sodass ihr Kultdienst den für andere Götter und Göttinnen (Zeus,Hera, Athene, Demeter) eindeutig übertraf. Sie wurden somit zum wichtigsten Kultpaar Zyperns. Apollon war der nach der Aphrodite Paphia in hellenistischen und römischen Inschriften zweithäufigst genannte und somit zweitwichtigste Kultinhaber der Insel. Seit klassischer Zeit wurde er in Zypern mit mehreren Beinamen angerufen, wobei sein wichtigster Beiname im hellenistischen Zypern "Hylates" war, ein Name, mit dem er in seinen größten Kultort in Kourion verehrt wurde. Das Buch widmet sich auch den Spuren seiner orientalischen Kultvorgänger und den wichtigsten, mit ihm in Zusammenhang stehenden Kultorten Zyperns, wozu auch Palaipaphos, der Ort des Heiligtums der Aphrodite, sowie Nea Paphos zählen
