The aim of the study is to document and describe in detail the newly excavated theatre, including precise drawings and photographs of the preserved architectural elements. A reconstruction of the theatre will be proposed based on the existing remains and comparisons with contemporary buildings. Architectural decorations on the Roman stage wall are analysed to determine their construction period, and the various elements of the theatre and their original form and function are documented, supported by detailed illustrations and photographs. Yoshitake provides an examination of the building materials, techniques and construction phases of the theatre from the late classical to the late Roman period, in the context of the urban development of Messene.
